FINALLY A KNIFE THAT CUTS!
Discover the combination of traditional technique and innovation.
Craftsman / Creator of leather straps, I discovered the whole point of the “tranchet” or “paring blade”, the ancestral tool of shoemakers and leatherworkers.
This fine steel blade has the particularity of having a sharpened bevel on one side only to obtain an exceptional cutting edge.
It is still made by a few rare blacksmiths in Europe and Japan where this tool called Kogatana (small sword) is used for carving wood, cutting bonsai, and cutting food.
Form follows function, leather or bonsai, the cut must be precise and effortless, harmony requires it.
I had the ideal steak knife, provided I could make this raw, bare, handleless steel blade less aggressive. So I hid the sharp part in a leather sheath; to cut, you remove it and slip it over the non-sharp part; it offers a comfortable grip. A new concept was born: The sheath becomes the handle.
I then discovered in Poland the blacksmith capable of making new blades.
A combination of leather and steel, the "Le Tranchet" steak knives will add originality to your table and delight your guests who will appreciate the tenderness of the meat thanks to their one-sided cutting edge. Sharpened on one side only, this results in a superior and very pleasant cutting sensation, the flat side helps with cutting without crushing the fibers of the food and prevents the juice from running out (see Japanese culinary art).
The look and feel of exceptional leather will add elegance to efficiency.
Careful, it cuts!

Working to measure, please specify the size of the straps by positioning your pants as desired, then measure either with a seamstress tape or with a string transferred on a ruler the distance from your hip to the middle of your back through the shoulder (see last photo of the presentation).
If you cannot make this measurement (in the event of a gift to be given) please tell me the size (height) of the recipient. With this information I will be able to fulfill your order and have it leave on time.
The leathers used are washable with lukewarm water and soap. You can also wax them with a colorless wax or coat them with ox's foot oil used in saddlery.
If you notice a disgorgement (due to heat, sweating):
Soak the suspenders in a sink or basin filled with cold water, one cup of white alcoholic vinegar and one cup of coarse salt.
Leave to drain for one or two hours.
Rinse off with cold water.
Return to soak, but this time only in water, nothing.
Apply Sommières earth to the stain. It is a natural and very absorbent clay.
- Rub gently with a soft cloth or with your finger at the level of the stain, leaving earth on it.
- Leave on for a few hours (overnight for example).
- Rub or brush gently to remove soil.
