FINALLY A KNIFE THAT CUTS!
As a leatherworker, I could easily cut thick leather with a cleaver, but at the table, I often had difficulty cutting my meat. Inspired by my work tool, I created a STEAK KNIFE WITH AN ASYMMETRICAL BLADE.
The trencher is a tool used in the leather trades, it is a small steel blade about 2cm wide and 15 to 23cm long, the main characteristic of which is that it is sharpened on a bevel on one side only, like the famous Japanese Yanagiba reserved for cooking, as in Japan dishes are always served cut.
How to go from a craftsman's tool to a table utensil?
The traditional cleaver is a rough blade without a handle, which the craftsman holds directly in the palm by its non-cutting part.
To hide its rather aggressive, primitive appearance and make it a comfortable and pleasant utensil, I slightly redesigned it and hid the sharp part under an elegant leather sheath. To use the knife, remove the sheath and slip it over the blunt part.
A NEW CONCEPT is born: The sheath becomes a handle and vice versa for transport or storage.
A combination of leather and steel, the “Le Tranchet” steak knives will add originality to your table and delight guests who will appreciate the tenderness of the meat thanks to their ASYMMETRICAL EDGE.
Sharpened on one side only, this results in an effortless and precise cut, the flat side helps to cut without crushing the fibers of the food and prevents the juice from flowing (see Japanese culinary art).
The look and feel of exceptional leather will add elegance to efficiency.
Careful, it cuts!

Frequently Asked Questions

Sizing details

Working to measure, please specify the size of the straps by positioning your pants as desired, then measure either with a seamstress tape or with a string transferred on a ruler the distance from your hip to the middle of your back through the shoulder (see last photo of the presentation).
If you cannot make this measurement (in the event of a gift to be given) please tell me the size (height) of the recipient. With this information I will be able to fulfill your order and have it leave on time.

Care instructions

The leathers used are washable with lukewarm water and soap. You can also wax them with a colorless wax or coat them with ox's foot oil used in saddlery.
If you notice a disgorgement (due to heat, sweating):
Soak the suspenders in a sink or basin filled with cold water, one cup of white alcoholic vinegar and one cup of coarse salt.
Leave to drain for one or two hours.
Rinse off with cold water.
Return to soak, but this time only in water, nothing.

If you are doing a fat stain.

Apply Sommières earth to the stain. It is a natural and very absorbent clay.
- Rub gently with a soft cloth or with your finger at the level of the stain, leaving earth on it.
- Leave on for a few hours (overnight for example).
- Rub or brush gently to remove soil.
